Millfield Balbriggan Family Festival

The inaugural Millfield Balbriggan Family Fun day was a great success with hundreds turning up at the shopping centre for a diverse offering of enetertainment and food. Nationalities from all over the world displayed their cuisine and talents to entertain and feed adults and children as local radio station’s broadcast live from the event.
Among the offerings were African drummers alongside Irish dancers with a multi cultural fashion show drawing great interest from people who combined doing their shopping with a taste of exotic foods and entertainment. Shopping centre manager Peter Carey expressed his delight with the event and said that given the success of the first outing of the fun day he expected it to lead to other similar events in the future. Speaking to the North County Leader Mr Carey thanked the Balbriggan Integration Forum for their work in making the event happen and helping Millfield to have one of their highest footfalls in the five years since it first opened. It was also a big day for Millfield’s anchor tenants Tesco who raised several thousand euros for Temple Street Children’s hospital who are this year’s designated charity for the supermarket. Staff wore fancy dress and offered face painting for the large crowds who enjoyed a great day.
