SPECSAVERS HITS 40 IN MILLFIELD SHOPPING CENTRE BALBRIGGAN 

January 19^th 2012 – A new Specsavers store has opened today in The Millfield Shopping Centre Balbriggan, creating 15 full and part time jobs for the area.

The opening marks a significant milestone for the company as the 40^th Specsavers store to open in Ireland since 1991. It is one of two to open in the country this month. Specsavers currently employs 850 people nationwide and most of the 71 store directors, who own and run the businesses, are Irish.

Situated in a prime location within the Millfield Shopping Centre the new Balbriggan store covers 1,600 square feet and includes an on-site lab, to provide a quick turn around on prescription glasses.

Speaking at the opening Store Director Kerril Hickey comments: ‘As Ireland’s favourite optician*, Specsavers is passionate about providing fashionable and affordable eyecare for everyone.  This new store at the Millfield shopping Centre is fully equipped to deliver the best in eye test technology to our customers.  We look forward to welcoming everyone into the store to see for themselves the great ranges of glasses available, as well as availing of on-site testing facilities.’

The store’s two testing rooms are overseen by optometrist Kerril Hickey and Gerard Donnelly, with eight optical assistants on hand to ensure a high level of service.  Customers can avail of state of the art  eye testing facilities, including digital retinal photography.  This sophisticated process uses a camera to produce detailed images of the back of the eye that can assist in the detection and management of a variety of health issues, including diabetes, inflammatory disorders, age related macular degeneration, vascular occlusions and tumours.

In addition to being experts in eye health, Specsavers in Balbriggan also features a hearing centre, providing free consultation, hearing tests and aftercare with professional hearing aid audiologists.
